Little-Known Symptoms of Diabetes: How to Recognize the Disease Early| Здоровье
![]() Little-Known Symptoms of Diabetes: How to Recognize the Disease Early Diabetes is a disease that affects millions of people around the world. While many people are aware of the typical symptoms of diabetes, such as constant thirst, frequent urination, and fatigue, there are also less obvious signs that can indicate this serious condition. Recognizing diabetes early is very important, as it allows you to prevent complications and stay healthy. One of the little-known symptoms is vision loss. If you notice that your vision has become blurry or you often need to change your eyeglass prescription, this could be a sign of diabetes. High blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels in your eyes, leading to changes in vision. This condition is known as diabetic retinopathy, and without proper treatment, it can lead to vision loss. Another lesser-known symptom of diabetes is dry skin and itching. People with high blood sugar levels often suffer from dehydration, which causes the skin to become dry and flaky. Itching can occur due to reduced blood circulation and nerve damage, which are common in diabetes. This can be the first clue to the disease. Also, pay attention to frequent infections or slow healing of wounds. Diabetes can weaken the immune system, making the body more vulnerable to infections. Frequent skin, urinary tract, or gum infections can indicate high blood sugar. Slow healing of wounds is also a symptom, as high glucose levels interfere with the normal process of tissue repair. Another little-known symptom is numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. This can be a sign of diabetic neuropathy, nerve damage caused by high blood sugar. This condition can cause pain, numbness, or tingling in your extremities, and if left untreated, diabetes can lead to serious mobility problems. Don’t forget about changes in appetite. Diabetes can affect the hormones that regulate hunger. In some cases, this can lead to a sudden increase or decrease in appetite. If you feel that your appetite has changed for no apparent reason, this can also be a warning sign that you need to check your blood sugar levels. Of course, these symptoms don’t always mean you have diabetes, but if you notice several of them, it’s worth seeing a doctor for a checkup. In the early stages, diabetes can be controlled, which greatly reduces the risk of complications. Early diagnosis and proper treatment are the key to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
