Scientists refute the benefits of yogurt with lactobacilli: a new study

A recent study conducted by an international group of scientists has challenged traditional beliefs about the health benefits of yogurts with lactobacilli. It turned out that popular products with probiotics may not have the expected positive effect on the intestinal microflora, as it was previously believed.

Researchers from several countries conducted a series of experiments studying the effects of yogurt containing lactobacilli on human health. They found that even after long-term consumption of such products, no significant changes in the composition of the intestinal microflora were recorded. What's more, it turns out that some strains of bacteria found in yogurt may not be as effective at promoting health as previously claimed.

One of the key reasons for this disappointing conclusion was that the lactobacilli added to yogurts are not always able to effectively colonize the gut. Foods containing these bacteria may only have a temporary effect, not a long-term benefit to the digestive system. Scientists emphasize that many factors, such as nutrition, stress and other aspects of lifestyle, significantly affect the health of the microflora.

Until now, yogurts with lactobacilli were considered an effective means for improving digestion, strengthening the immune system and fighting various infections. However, new data forces us to reconsider these notions. Scientists emphasize that in order to achieve real and sustainable results, it is necessary to pay more attention to eating habits, as well as to the selection of appropriate probiotics, which are really able to influence the intestinal flora.

Researchers also point to the importance of variety in the diet, because intestinal health depends not only on probiotics, but also on the balance of various beneficial bacteria that enter the body with food. In this context, foods rich in fiber, fermented foods and other sources of natural beneficial bacteria are important.

At the end of the study, scientists emphasized the need for further scientific developments in the field of probiotics. Their introduction into the daily diet should be based on clear scientific data, and not on marketing myths, which can lead to misconceptions about the benefits of such products. They also note that plain yogurts with lactobacilli can be useful for some people, but their effectiveness depends greatly on the individual characteristics of the body.
