Marfan syndrome: the Amosov Institute saved two family members at once

Marfan syndrome is a rare genetic disease known for its systematic failure of connective tissue, usually leading to complications in the bone, cardiovascular system, and organs of vision. The worst complications are damage to the aorta and mitral valve, often patients are diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm.

The Amosov Institute has established itself as a center of competence in the treatment of rare diseases, and recently they started the fight against Marfan syndrome in two members of the same family. Father Vasyl Vytenko and his son Ivan were diagnosed with this disease.

At first, a team of professional surgeons from the Amosov Institute saved the father's life. Behind his shoulders, the man already had an operation on his eyes. Vasyl Vytenko was also worried about arrhythmia and none of the drugs stopped the pain and palpitations, so he agreed to Bentall's operation. This is a unique method that combines the treatment of the ascending aorta and the aortic valve. Due to an illness, the chord of the back leaflet of the mitral valve was severed in my son. Therefore, mitral and tricuspid valve plastic surgery was performed on him.

Both patients are doing well now. The performed operations enabled the men to live a full life and do their favorite things.

Marfan syndrome requires a complex approach to treatment, individually selected for each patient. At the Amos Institute, a team of surgeons and doctors performed a number of operations aimed at improving the condition of both patients. Restoration of bone structure and prevention of heart complications have become key tasks.

Thanks to the high qualification of the doctors and the modern equipment of the institute, both patients successfully survived the operations and feel a noticeable improvement in their health. This story is an example of successful treatment of Marfan syndrome and shows the importance of diagnosis and effective treatment of this rare disease.

The Vytenko family shared their story to raise awareness and understanding about Marfan syndrome. Their experience and success have become a source of hope for other patients facing this rare genetic disease.

A highly qualified team of doctors and scientists of the Amosov Institute continues to research and develop new methods of treatment for Marfan syndrome, helping patients improve their quality of life and reduce the burden of this difficult disease
